Pow Vista: Front-End Developer

Independent Product & Platform Development - March 2024 - August 2025

Built a React website connected to a headless WordPress CMS, with Super.so pages integrated into the React site. Focused on creating a scalable content infrastructure for an indie game studio with a RuneScape-inspired knowledge base experience.

Background

Pow Vista was an indie game project led by a one-man team with no website experience. The initial goal was to give them a good website. After building the front-end website, plans expanded to include a wiki page for game content - including items, NPCs, mobs, lore, and mechanics.

The goal was to create a developer-friendly content pipeline that allowed rapid iteration without sacrificing performance, design, or structure. This evolved from a simple website into a comprehensive content system with wiki functionality.

Approach

Built a React website connected to a headless WordPress CMS. Integrated Super.so pages directly into the React site to create a unified wiki experience. Implemented Notion-based workflows with JavaScript automation to streamline content management. This architecture allowed for flexible content management through WordPress while maintaining a modern, performant front-end.

Key priorities included:

  • Separation of content and presentation (headless architecture)
  • Structured databases for long-term scalability
  • Automation via JavaScript to reduce manual upkeep
  • A visual style inspired by classic MMORPG wikis (e.g., RuneScape)

Worked closely with the developer to model content schemas that could evolve alongside gameplay mechanics.

Impact

  • Created a scalable wiki system capable of supporting long-term game development
  • Reduced content update time from manual site edits to structured Notion updates
  • Enabled a solo developer to manage complex game data without engineering overhead
  • Delivered a custom, immersive wiki experience aligned with the game's aesthetic
